Non-Food Jatropha Project, 110.750 ha. in Brazil.

First we llike to inform you more about our jatropha project in Brazil.
We have 110.750 hectares of land available in Brazil. We also can make the management for the project, with people from The Netherlands who live for many years in Brazil and have already much experience with the production of jatropha and will work together with the Family Farming Project. www.ifad.org/documents/10180/f5eb1cd0-a412-45bc-9218-1dc9fd7876b5.

We selected more than 900 farms in Brazil which were for sale and found only 1 farm which satisfies to the Roundtable on Sustainable Bio-fuels Principle & Criteria for Sustainable Bio-fuel.

Excellent farms, border 56 km. the river Parnaiba Gilbues Barreira of Piaui. (dividing the States Piauí and Maranhão).
Four area’s, total 110.750 ha. – Being an area with 44.300 ha., an area with 38.800 ha., an area with 19.800 ha. and an area with 7.850 ha. –
can be sold together or separate. The virginal soil, transition between savannah and forest is very suitable for a jatropha plantation.

Localization:
– Municipalities of Gilbués and Barreiras – State of Piauí –

Clay soil:
25 – 30%.

Altitude:
550 up to 600 meter.

Rain index:
1.300 mm. per year. Most of the rain falls in the period from October until the end of April. The underground of this region has water in abundance for boring water wells for irrigation.

Topography:
Flat soil: 80% and 20% hilly.

Access:
The asphalt road (PI-260), which bounds the States Piauí with Maranhão runs right through the farms.

Legal reserve:
20%, this is not registered in the escritura (purchase deed).

ITR and CCIR regulated in 1 day.

Georeferenciamento:
This has as an aim to validate the law texts in a purchase deed regarding their legality for protection of the agriculture producers. The georeferenciamento has not been executed yet and at sale this will be taken care of. This will be registered in the INCRA.

General characteristics of the state Piauí.

Roads:
Asphalted federal and state roads link the south of the state PIAUÍ with all important cities of the country, as well as the ports to Europe and the United States.

Road transport:
There are several bus companies, e.g.: Transbrasiliana, Vipu, Ipu, Princesa do sul, Real Expresso, Transpiauí, ltapemirim and Penha, with connections to Pelotas-RS, by means of Cascavel, Maringá – PR., the state São Paulo, Triângulo – Mineiro, Brasília – DF, Barreiras – BA., Corrente, bomb Jesus, Floriano – PI, Uruçuí e Fortaleza – CE.

Sea transport:
The Southern region of PlAUÍ has been linked by means of asphalted roads with the most important ports for import and export to e.g. Europe and the United States.

The port of Itáqui:
Situated in São Luis, the capital of the state Maranhão. Transport of wood and iron from the iron mine Serra de Carajás-PA.

The port of luíz Correia:
To the coast of Piauí. Within manageable time, grain ships with an individual capacity up to 50,000 tons will arrive in the port.

Other well-known ports:
Recife. Salvador, Fortaleza.

The export Corredor Norte, consisting of excellent asphalted roads, train ways and port cities has strategic advantages for export to Europe, the V.S., etc. in comparison with the port cities in the south and south-east of the country. With considerable reduction of the freight costs and as a result, better competition conditions in the international market.

New agricultural border.
The Southern region of PlauÍ is nowadays the newest agricultural border of the country. Linked with the regions of the south of Maranhão (Balsas) and the west of Bahia (Barreiras), it has all necessary conditions for the production of a lot of types of agricultural products.

Advantages of this region with respect to the centre and south of brazil.
Excellent and cheap soil, easy transport, short distances to the port cities.

The government of Piauí exhorts the development of region with attractive financing with a duration of 12 years and individual subsidies for the installation of electricity.
